Messaging a tutor is free. You can ask questions and agree goals and lesson times before anything is booked. If you don't have an account yet, you create one as you send your first message.
1. Choose the lessons
On the tutor's profile, use the message box on the right.
Subject and level (1): what the lessons are for. The price at the top of the box changes to match.
Who are the lessons for? (2): My child, Myself or Someone else.
Your message to Jordan (3): we start it for you from your choices. Edit it as you like.
The + buttons (4) add a line for you to finish: Year group, Exam board, Target grade, Exam date, Best times, or Intro call to ask for a short call before booking.
If the tutor teaches both online and in person, you'll also choose Online or in person, and for in-person lessons, Where are the lessons?: type your town or postcode and pick it from the list.
2. Write your message
Say what you need help with. The more you tell the tutor, the better they can reply. Then select Send message (2).
If the message is very short, you'll see "Add a little more so Jordan can reply properly."
Also send to 2 similar tutors sends the same message to two more tutors. See Send your message to similar tutors.
3. Create your account
If you're not signed in, you're asked "Where should Jordan reply?". Your message is kept and sends as soon as you're done.
Under I'm new here, fill in First name, Last name, Email, Mobile number and Create a password (at least 8 characters). Tick I accept the terms and privacy policy.
If you see "Has already been taken" under Email, select I have an account and sign in instead (see Message a tutor if you already have an account). If you can't remember the password, select Forgot your password? under the password box: the reset page opens in a new tab, so your message stays here.
Select Send message to Jordan (1). Back to your message lets you change what you wrote first.
4. Message sent
You'll see "Message sent to Jordan", when the tutor usually replies, and the next steps. You pay after each lesson.
Under Hear back sooner, Send sends the same message to similar tutors. Select Done to close.
On a phone
Tap Message Jordan (1) in the bar at the bottom of the profile.
The same message box opens as a sheet. Fill it in and tap Send message.
The account step and the confirmation show in the same sheet.
Where the reply arrives
We email you when the tutor replies. To read and answer, sign in to your Tutorspot account and open Messages (1). Each tutor has their own conversation.
Good to know
Don't share phone numbers or email addresses in messages. Use Tutorspot messages for everything.
If you see "Your session has expired. Sign in to send your message.", your message is kept: sign in under I have an account and send it.
If creating your account keeps showing "Something went wrong. Please try again.", wait a while: one email address can only make a limited number of sign-up attempts an hour.
