You set a separate hourly rate for every subject and level, for in-person and online lessons. Clients pay the rate you set, and you can see what you'll receive before you save.

1. Choose your subjects and levels

Go to Your profile > Profile and select the Subjects tab. Subjects are grouped in tabs (1), and the number on a tab shows how many levels you've picked there. Tap a level (2) to add it, and tap again to remove it. Use Filter subjects to find a subject quickly.

Under each subject you teach, select Show rates for … (3) to set its rates without leaving the page.

2. Removing a level

If you remove a level that already has rates, you'll be asked to confirm, for example Remove GCSE Maths? Its rates will be removed too, when you save. Select Remove level, or Keep level to change your mind.

3. Save your subjects

Select Save. If you've added a level, you'll see Saved. Set rates for 1 new level with a Set rates button. New levels show Rate needed under each empty rate box until you add a price.

4. Open Rates

Select the Rates tab to see every subject and level in one table, with an In-person rate (hourly) and an Online rate (hourly) column.

A column is greyed out if you don't teach that way yet. The note at the top (1) explains, for example Online rates open once you enable online tutoring in Location. Select Go to Location (2) to change how you teach.

5. Enter your rates

Type a rate in pounds in each box. Under each one, You will receive shows what reaches you per hour. Rates must be £1,000 or less, and high enough to leave you something after the fee. Otherwise you'll see a message such as Rate must be £1,000 or less or At £3 you'd receive nothing after the fee.

6. Check how fees work

Select How fees work. Clients pay your hourly rate. Tutorspot keeps a service fee of £3 plus 15% of your rate per hour (at least £4), and you receive the rest. For example:

  • At £30 an hour, the fee is £7.50 and you receive £22.50.

  • At £40 an hour, the fee is £9.00 and you receive £31.00.

7. Save your rates

Select Save. You'll see Rates saved.

Good to know

  • The fee is the same for every subject. It's taken from the lesson payment, so clients pay your rate with no booking fee on top.

  • Changing a rate here doesn't change lesson reservations you've already sent. Their rate is set in each reservation.

  • If some rates don't save, you'll see how many couldn't be saved. Try again.
