After you search, the results page lists every tutor who teaches your subject and level. Use the filters to find tutors who are free when you are and fit your budget.

1. Read the results page

The heading (1) says how many tutors match your search, for example "151 GCSE Maths tutors online". The line under it says how the list is sorted and which prices are shown: when you search for a subject and level, prices are for that subject and level.

The filters (2) and Sort by (3) sit above the list. On the right, the price box (4) shows what most tutors charge for your subject and level.

2. Filter by availability

Select Availability and tick the times that suit you: Weekday daytime, Weekday evenings or Weekends. The number beside each one is how many tutors are free then. You'll see tutors free at any of the times you tick. The list updates straight away.

The Availability filter open, with Weekday daytime, Weekday evenings and Weekends

3. Set a maximum price

Select Price and drag the Maximum price slider. It shows "Up to £80 an hour", for example, or "Any price" at the far right.

4. Show only highly rated tutors

Select 4.5 stars and up to see only tutors rated 4.5 or more.

The filters you've used are highlighted: availability (1), price (2) and rating (3). Select Clear all (4) to remove them all.

Filters on: Weekday daytime (1), Up to £80 (2), 4.5 stars and up (3) and Clear all (4)

5. Sort the results

Open Sort by and choose Recommended, Price: low to high, Price: high to low, Highest rated or Most hours taught. Recommended puts tutors our team recommends first.

6. Read a tutor card

Each card shows the tutor's name and photo (with Recommended if our team recommends them), their rating, a one-line introduction and the subjects they teach, with yours highlighted. Below that: how quickly they reply, hours taught, checks such as DBS certificate on file, and when they're available. On the right is their hourly price and what it's for, Message with the tutor's name, and View profile.

7. See more tutors

Scroll down and more tutors load on their own. Under the list you'll see, for example, "Showing 40 of 151 tutors" and a Show more tutors link.

The end of the list: Showing 40 of 151 tutors, with more loading

8. Use the price box and How booking works

The price box shows the usual price range for your subject and level. How booking works sums up the rules: free messaging, no booking fees, pay after each lesson, and free cancellation up to 48 hours before.

If nothing matches

If your filters leave no one, you'll see "No tutors match these filters", with how many tutors match your search without them. Select Clear filters, or loosen one filter.

If no tutor teaches what you searched for at all, you'll see "No tutors online right now" (or in person). Fill in the short Get matched form below it and our team will look for a tutor for you. See Get matched by our team.
