Find your way around a workspace

What's in a workspace (next lesson, homework, timeline, files, schedule) and how to post, reply to, edit and delete notes.

You get a workspace for each tutor and subject once you accept a lesson reservation. It keeps the next lesson, homework, notes and files for that subject in one place, shared between you and your tutor.

1. Open your workspaces

Select Workspaces in the menu (1). You'll see one row per tutor and subject, with the next lesson and any homework that's open or overdue. Select a row (2) to open it.

Use Active and Archived at the top of the list to see workspaces your tutor has archived.

2. See what's in the workspace

The workspace page has five parts:

  • Next lesson (1): the date and time, whether there's a video link yet, and Open lesson for the details.

  • Homework (2): open homework with its due date, and Hand in for each piece. All homework lists everything, including homework you've already handed in.

  • Files (3): everything either of you has shared. Search by name, or filter by All, Mine, your tutor, or Homework.

  • Schedule (4): your lesson reservations with this tutor and their status, and a link to Your lessons.

  • Timeline, below the homework: notes, shared files and homework events, grouped by lesson.

Message and your tutor's name (for example Message Tara) at the top opens your conversation with the tutor. Share file shares a file straight into the workspace (see Share files in a workspace).

3. Post a note

In Timeline, type in the box that says "Share a note or file with…" (1). You can add files with Attach Files. Select Post (2).

The timeline box with a note typed in it (1) and Post (2)

You'll see "Posted." and your note appears at the top of the timeline, marked (you). Your tutor sees it in the same workspace.

4. Reply to a note

Point at a note and select Reply under it. Type your reply (1) and select Reply (2). Select Back to close the box without replying.

You'll see "Reply saved." The reply sits under the note, with a count of replies.

5. Edit or delete your own note

Point at a note you wrote. The pencil (1) edits it and the bin (2) deletes it. You can only change your own notes and replies.

To edit, change the text and select Save (1). You'll see "Comment saved."

To delete, select the bin. You're asked "Delete this comment?". Deleting a note also deletes its replies, for everyone in the workspace. Select Delete comment to go ahead, or Keep it. You'll see "Comment deleted."

Good to know

  • On a computer, Reply and the edit and delete buttons show when you point at a note.

  • On a phone, the workspace is split into Overview, Timeline and Files tabs at the top.

  • Show earlier at the bottom of the timeline loads older notes.

  • When your tutor archives a workspace, it moves to Archived in your list. Nothing in it is deleted.
