Your tag line, bio and photo are the first things families see.

1. Open Personal info

In the sidebar, select Your profile > Profile. The tabs along the top (1) are the sections of your profile; a tick marks a finished section and an orange circle marks one that still needs something. If the section you're in isn't finished, a note (2) says what's missing, for example Still needed: a profile photo.

2. Edit your text

Under Tell your students about yourself, change your Tag line (up to 300 characters, shown under your name in search results), Bio, Tutoring experience, Lesson planning, Experience with exam boards or Past success. Only the last two can be left empty; if another is empty, you'll see a message such as Bio can't be blank when you save.

3. Save

Select Save (1) at the bottom of the card. It's greyed out until you change something.

You'll see Profile updated.

4. Change your photo

In the Profile picture card, select Choose photo (1) and pick a clear photo of your face: a JPG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB.

Profile photos are square. If yours isn't, Crop your photo opens. Drag the photo, or use the slider (1), to choose the part that shows, then select Crop and upload (2). Use as is uploads it without cropping.

Your new photo saves straight away; you don't need to select Save.

What happens next

Once nothing is missing, Personal info (1) gets a tick. Your changes show on your public profile straight away. Select Preview to check.

Good to know

  • Save before you open another tab or page. Changes you haven't saved are lost.

  • If the photo is too big or not a JPG, PNG or GIF, you'll see That image is too large. Choose one under 10 MB. or Choose a JPG, PNG or GIF image. Choose another file.
