We verify every tutor's identity before they teach on Tutorspot. You do this once, through Stripe, our payment provider. A DBS certificate is optional, but families can see when you have one.
1. Open Verification
In the sidebar, select Your profile > Verification. The Status card (1) shows whether your Identity is Verified and whether your DBS certificate is On file.
2. Verify your identity with Stripe
Under Verify with Stripe, select the button in the notice, for example Set up payouts with Stripe (2) or Continue with Stripe. Stripe confirms your identity from the details you give it, and asks for a photo of your ID only if it can't.
Follow the steps on Stripe's website; you're then brought back to this page. The same Stripe details are used to pay you, so you only do this once. See Set up payouts with Stripe for what to expect.
When Stripe has everything it needs, Identity shows Verified and the notice reads Your payout account is complete.
3. Upload your DBS certificate
In the DBS certificate card, select Upload (1) and choose your certificate: a JPG, PNG or PDF up to 16 MB.
You'll see DBS certificate uploaded, and the Status card shows On file.
4. Replace or remove it
To upload a newer certificate, select Replace (1). To take it off your profile, select Remove (2).
Removing can't be undone. Select Remove in Remove DBS certificate? to confirm.
You'll see Document removed, and the card shows Not uploaded again.
Good to know
A certificate with several pages must go in as one PDF. If your pages are in separate files, email them to dbs_verification@tutorspot.co.uk and we'll add the certificate to your profile.
If the notice says Your payout account isn't ready yet. Please contact us and we'll set it up., contact us. You can't verify until we've set it up.
If our team couldn't verify a document, you'll see an alert on Home. Select Go to verification or Update DBS in the alert to come here.
