Sometimes a tutor needs to cancel a lesson. When they ask, you decide: accept the cancellation, or keep the lesson. If you do nothing, the lesson stays booked as planned.

1. Find the request

On Home, under Needs your attention, you see "… asked to cancel a lesson" with the subject and time. Select Review (1).

Needs your attention with the cancellation request's Review button marked 1

The lesson also shows Cancellation requested in Lessons and under Coming up on Home.

2. Read your tutor's reason

The lesson page says "… has requested to cancel this lesson.", when they asked, and their reason (1). It also says "If you do nothing, the lesson stays scheduled as planned."

The lesson page, with the request and reason marked 1 and Review cancellation marked 2

If you'd like to talk it over first, select Message followed by your tutor's name.

3. Decide

Select Review cancellation (2). A box opens, Accept this cancellation?, repeating who asked, when and why.

The Accept this cancellation? box, with Keep lesson marked 1 and Accept cancellation marked 2
  • Keep lesson (1) closes the box. Nothing changes and the lesson stays booked.

  • Accept cancellation (2) cancels the lesson for both of you.

What happens next

If you accept, you see "Lesson cancellation approved. This lesson is no longer scheduled." The lesson shows Cancelled with your tutor's reason, and it's removed from your upcoming lessons. You aren't charged for a cancelled lesson.

Good to know

  • Doing nothing keeps the lesson. The request stays on Home, and the lesson goes ahead as planned.

  • There is no button to turn the request down. If you want the lesson to go ahead, keep it and message your tutor to say so.

  • If several lessons have requests from the same tutor, Home shows them together with Review all.
