Keep your details up to date so Tutorspot can reach you and your receipts show the right address. Tutors don't see your contact details.

1. Open Personal details

Select your name at the bottom of the menu (1), then Personal details (2). On a phone, select More first.

The account menu, with the account button marked 1 and Personal details marked 2

The page has three parts: Name and email, Address and Phone. The Password card sits below them.

2. Change what you need

  • First name and Last name: how you appear to tutors and on Tutorspot.

  • Email: where we send booking and payment emails. It's also the address you sign in with. To change it, you'll also need your current password (see below).

  • Address: optional, but once you fill in any part of it, Address line 1, City and Postcode are needed.

  • Home phone and Mobile phone: both optional. UK numbers can be entered without +44. You need a mobile number to get text message notifications.

3. Save or discard

As soon as you change something, Save turns on and Discard changes appears. Select Save (3) to keep your changes, or Discard changes (2) to put everything back as it was.

When it's saved, you'll see Settings saved at the bottom of the screen.

The Settings saved message

If something needs fixing, the box turns red with a message under it, and nothing is saved until you fix it. For example, City can't be blank (1) if you've started an address, or Enter a valid phone number, like 07700 900123 or +44 7700 900123 (2).

City can't be blank marked 1 and the phone number message marked 2

4. Change your email address

When you type a new address in Email (1), a Current password box (2) appears under it. Type the password you use to sign in now, then select Save.

If you leave it empty, you'll see Enter your current password. If the password is wrong, you'll see Current password is incorrect, and nothing is saved.

Once it's saved, you sign in with the new address. We also email your old address to say the email has changed. If you get that email and didn't make the change, reply to it or contact us straight away.

5. Change your password

In the Password card, type the password you use now in Current password (1). Type your new password in New password (2). It needs at least 8 characters. Type it again in Confirm new password (3), then select Change password (4).

If the two new passwords don't match, you'll see Password confirmation doesn't match password.

If the current password is wrong, you'll see Current password is incorrect and your password isn't changed. Check it and try again. If you can't remember it, see Reset your password.

When it works, you'll see Password changed. Use the new password next time you sign in. You stay signed in on this device.

Good to know

  • Saving your details doesn't touch your password, and changing your password doesn't touch your details.

  • We ask for your current password before the email or password changes, so nobody else can take over your account from a computer you've left signed in.

  • If you leave the page with changes you haven't saved, you're asked whether to stay or leave.

  • Tutors: how you meet clients (the online classroom or your own video link) is under Lesson preferences in the same menu. See Choose how you'll meet.

  • Forgotten your password and can't sign in? See Reset your password.
