When a tutor sends you a lesson reservation, your lessons aren't booked until you accept it.

You'll need: a debit or credit card, and your address and a phone number if you haven't given them before.

1. Open the reservation

On Home, under Needs your attention, select Review & accept (1).

Home, with Review & accept marked 1

Or open Reservations in the menu and select Accept (1) under Waiting for you. The email about your tutor's reservation opens the same page.

2. Read the offer

  1. Who sent it. Select the tutor's name to see their page.

  2. What you're booking: how many lessons, how long each is, the subject and level, the day and time, and the dates.

  3. The Total for every lesson, and the price per lesson. Each lesson is charged after it takes place, never up front.

  4. How you'll pay: the payment method we'll charge.

If anything is wrong, don't accept. Message your tutor and ask them to send a new reservation.

3. Save your contact details

If we don't have your address yet, Your contact details (1) comes before Add a payment method (2). You need them even for online lessons. Until everything is in place, Accept and book lessons stays greyed out, and the line next to it (3) says what's missing.

Fill in Address line 1, Town or city, Postcode and at least one of Mobile phone or Home phone, then select Save contact details.

Once saved, you'll see Contact details saved (1).

4. Add a payment method

If you've never added one, you'll see No payment method yet under How you'll pay.

  1. Select Add a payment method.

  2. Enter your card details. Your card is held by Stripe, our payment provider. You can choose Revolut Pay or Amazon Pay at the top of the form instead.

  3. Select Save (1).

If anything is missing, the form marks it and shows "Fill in the fields marked above." (2). Then select Save again.

Your bank may ask you to confirm the card, for example in your banking app. Once saved, the card appears under How you'll pay (1).

5. Check the cancellation rule

You can cancel any lesson free of charge up to 48 hours before it starts. Later than that, your tutor has to agree.

6. Accept and book

Select Accept and book lessons (1). It works once your contact details are saved and you have a payment method that can be charged.

What happens next

Your tutor is told you've accepted, and every lesson appears in Lessons. Each lesson is charged to your card after it takes place. See What happens after you accept.

Good to know

  • If your card has expired, you'll see "Your card has expired. Add a new one to accept." Select Change, add a new card, then accept.

An expired card marked 1, and the message "To accept, add a payment method above." marked 2
  • To use a different card, select Change, enter the new card and select Use this instead. It's used for every lesson from then on.

  • If you leave the page without accepting, we ask Leave without accepting? Nothing is lost if you leave: the reservation waits in Reservations. Not now takes you back without asking.

    The Leave without accepting? dialog
  • If the reservation was already accepted or cancelled, opening it again (for example from an old email) takes you to Reservations.
