The welcome guide takes you through everything clients need to see on your profile, one step at a time. Each step saves when you select Next, so you can stop and pick up where you left off.
1. Open the guide
On Home, select Finish setting up your profile. The guide shows its seven steps across the top (1). Any step can be opened from there, and a tick shows the steps you've finished. Finish later (2) takes you back to Home.
2. Bio
Write a Tag line (up to 300 characters, shown under your name in search results) and your Bio. Both are required. Select Next.
3. Profile photo
Select Choose photo (1) and pick a JPG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB. A clear, friendly photo of your face works best.
Profile photos are square. If your photo isn't, Crop your photo opens. Drag the photo or the slider to choose the part that shows, then select Crop and upload (2), or Use as is (1) to upload it uncropped. A square photo uploads straight away.
Your photo appears in the preview. Select Next.
4. Experience
Fill in Tutoring experience and Lesson planning. Experience with exam boards and Past success are optional. Select Next.
5. Subjects
Subjects are grouped in tabs (1). The number on a tab shows how many levels you've picked there. Tap a level, such as GCSE, to add it, and tap it again to remove it.
To find a subject quickly, type in Filter subjects (1). Selected levels show a tick (2). Choose at least one subject and level, then select Next.
6. Location
Under Where do you teach?, tick any of At my home, I will travel to students and Online. If you travel, choose How far will you travel?. For home or travel lessons, enter Your address. Students see your area, not your street. Under When can you teach?, tick at least one of Weekday days, Weekday evenings and Weekends. Select Next.
7. Rates
Enter an hourly rate for each subject and level. You only see the columns for how you teach: In-person rate (hourly), Online rate (hourly) or both. Every box needs a rate.
Under each rate, You will receive shows what you keep. Select How fees work to see how we work it out: Tutorspot keeps £3 plus 15% of your rate per hour. At £40 an hour you receive £31.00. Select Next.
8. Contact
Add a Home phone or Mobile phone (one is enough) and your address. Address line 2 is optional. Clients only see these once you have an active lesson reservation together.
Select Finish (1).
9. Add a qualification
You land on Home. Your profile can only go to our team for review once every item in Set up your profile is done, and that includes qualifications, which the guide doesn't cover. The message at the top says what's still missing, usually One more thing before we can review your profile with a link to Enter your qualifications. Select that link, or Add qualifications in the checklist, or go to Your profile > Qualifications, and add at least one.
If nothing is missing, the message says Profile sent for review instead, and we email you when your profile is live.
Good to know
If you open another step with unsaved typing, You have unsaved changes asks first. Select Stay on this page to keep what you typed.
To change where you teach after the Rates step, go back to Location. The rate columns follow your choice.
If your work is interrupted, Finish setting up your profile on Home brings you back to the first step you haven't finished.
On your phone
The steps fold into one line, such as Step 1 of 7: Bio, with a bar showing how many are done. Tap Show all steps (1) to see the list (2) and open any step.
