Tutorspot brings you enquiries from families and students, books and schedules your lessons, takes payment from clients and pays you. Here's how it fits together, with a link to the full steps for each part.

1. Set up your profile

Create your tutor account on tutorspot.co.uk, then go through the welcome guide: your bio, photo, experience, subjects, where you teach and your rates. Our team reviews your profile before it goes live in search. See Create your tutor account, Set up your profile with the welcome guide and Your profile review and account alerts.

You set an hourly rate for each subject and level, and the rates page shows what you'll receive after Tutorspot's fee. See Subjects, rates and fees.

2. Get ready to be paid

Before you can send a booking, set up your payout account with Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe also confirms your identity. You can add a DBS certificate and ask for references too, which clients see on your profile. See Set up payouts with Stripe, Verify your identity and add a DBS certificate and Ask for references.

3. Reply to enquiries

When a parent or student writes to you, the conversation appears in Messages and we email you if it stays unread. Reply there to answer their questions and agree days, times and a rate. You can share when you're free or offer a time from the conversation. See Reply to a new enquiry and Share your availability and propose a time.

Keep everything in Tutorspot messages. Please don't share phone numbers, email addresses or other contact details, or ask for your client's.

4. Send a lesson reservation

Once you've agreed the details, send the client a lesson reservation: the subject, the schedule and the rate. Your lessons are booked when the client accepts it, and they add how they'll pay at the same time. See Send a lesson reservation from a conversation and Create a lesson reservation.

Later you can change the schedule, pause for a break, add an extra lesson, or end the reservation. See Your reservations and what each status means.

5. Teach your lessons

Your lessons appear in your calendar. Online lessons happen in the Tutorspot Online Classroom or on your own video link, whichever you choose. You can set homework and share files with each student in a workspace. See Your calendar and lessons list, Choose how you'll meet and Set homework for a student.

6. Write a report, get paid

After each lesson, write a short lesson report saying whether it took place and how it went. The client is charged after the lesson takes place, and you're paid for a lesson once its report is done. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe, and Payments shows what's on its way. See Complete your lesson reports and Your payouts.
